The market in brief
Cameroon is often named as having the largest pig herd in Central Africa, but reliable current figures are scarce. A Pig333 article by A. Olasupo (31 March 2025), quoting FAO figures, lists 2.18 million pigs and 48,560 t of pigmeat (Pig333, March 2025); the captions do not make the reference year clear.

The same research summaries say domestic demand outpaced supply and led to pork imports; we have not seen import figures. The Pig333 article says smallholders are the majority of pig farmers in most African countries and that limited training has held back productivity.

Rules and who to ask
Permits, veterinary registration and import requirements are set by national and local authorities and change. Ask the ministry responsible for livestock and its veterinary services, the regional delegations, the local council, and your clearing agent about imported equipment; our guide to importing pig farm equipment from China lists the usual documents.
