The market in brief

The Philippine pig sector is rebuilding after African swine fever. According to a USDA Foreign Agricultural Service report of 19 September 2025, summarised by Pig333, the swine inventory was 9.01 million head on 1 July 2025, the lowest since 2019. Output fell 5% in 2024 and 5.6% in the first half of 2025, and ASF resurged in the second half of 2024 (Pig333, 30 September 2025).

Swine inventory, 1 July 2025 9.01 million head (lowest since 2019) USDA FAS via Pig333
Pork output 2024 −5% on 2023 Philippine Statistics Authority via USDA
Pork output, first half 2025 −5.6% on a year earlier same
Forecast pork production 2026 +2% to 980,000 t carcass weight USDA FAS
Forecast consumption 2026 +4% to 1.73 million t carcass weight USDA FAS
Forecast imports 2026 +7% to 750,000 t carcass weight; Brazil the main supplier USDA FAS

The same report says a government-controlled ASF vaccine rollout is expanding and the industry has strengthened biosecurity. Reporting on the exact end-2025 herd varies between sources, so we give the USDA figure and its date.

What this means for a project:

  • Demand is growing faster than local supply. A farm that can deliver stable output with ASF protection serves a gap that imports currently fill.
  • Biosecurity is part of the business case, not an extra. See ASF biosecurity for pig farms and restocking a pig farm after ASF.
  • Plan from your own costs. Feed price and live-pig price move the result; see what drives the cost of a pig farm and the business plan checklist.

There is no cold season to design for. The design problem is the opposite: pigs lose feed intake in heat, and lactating sows are especially exposed. Plan insulated roofs, tunnel or cross ventilation, cooling for sows and a controller from the start; evaporative pads work less well in very humid air, so combine methods. See heat stress in pigs and pig house ventilation design. Heavy rain and strong wind also matter for the structure and drainage; the frame is calculated for the loads you give us for the site.

Rules and who to ask

Permits, veterinary registration of the farm and import rules are set by national and local authorities and change over time. We do not summarise them here. Ask early:

  • the Bureau of Animal Industry (Department of Agriculture) and your provincial or city veterinarian on animal health and farm requirements;
  • your local government unit and environmental offices on land use, building and environmental permits, and manure handling;
  • your customs broker on documents for imported equipment. Our guide to importing pig farm equipment from China lists the usual documents.

We are ready to work with you on a project in line with the requirements of the country where it will be built. The documents and conditions are agreed with our specialists through the live chat on this site or at sales@hnyzgroup.com.

How we approach a project here

  1. Your data: sows or pig places, site, water and power, target market and start date.
  2. Layout: flows of pigs, feed, people and manure, with ASF-oriented zoning and entry points.
  3. Climate design: roof and wall insulation, ventilation stages, cooling, standby power.
  4. Equipment and installation: by stage, installed and commissioned by our installation teams, with staff training.
  5. Documents: the list for your country is confirmed before quotation.
